Meet Dr. Larry Hon, DMD, MS, FAAPD
Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Larry Hon was born and raised in San Gabriel, California where he received his eagle scout badge, taught competitive swimming as a high school swim team captain, and tutored children in science. He graduated from University of California, Los Angeles and received his Bachelor’s degree in Physiological Sciences and worked as a lab technician in Diabetes and Parkinson’s Disease.
Dr. Hon continued his education at California State University, Dominguez Hills where he earned his Master’s degree in Biology with a focus on advancing the understanding of the pathogenic mechanisms and virulence factors of bacterial infections. During his studies, Dr. Hon developed an interest in oral infections and moved from research to dentistry at UNLV School of Dental Medicine where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
Following his passion for educating children, he decided to specialize in Pediatric Dentistry and completed his two-year residency at UNLV. Dr. Hon was awarded his Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and is also Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
As a Pediatric Dentist, he is dedicated on prevention, education, and treatment without General Anesthesia. He is also a Pediatric Residency Instructor at UNLV School of Dental Medicine, mentoring the next generation of Pediatric Dentists in passing the written Board Examinations and achieving clinical competency.
Dr. Hon currently holds the rank of MAJOR in the United States Army Reserves. He attends Battle Assembly one weekend per month and Annual Training two-four weeks a year.
When he’s not working, he’s taking care of his two children, playing video games, playing chess, watching anime, reading comic books, or training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
